Peptide Contraindications & Interactions
Health conditions, drug interactions, and high-risk groups according to the literature.
Absolute Contraindications
The research literature reports the following conditions as potential contraindications:
- ⚠Active cancer or history of hormone-dependent neoplasms — especially for GH and IGF-1 peptides
- ⚠Pregnancy and breastfeeding — insufficient safety data
- ⚠Severe hepatic or renal insufficiency
- ⚠Known allergy to formulation components
Drug Interactions
Insulin & Antidiabetics
GLP-1 peptides (semaglutide, tirzepatide) may potentiate insulin action, increasing the risk of hypoglycemia.
Anticoagulants
Some peptides may affect coagulation parameters. Special caution is required in patients on anticoagulant therapy.
Hormone Therapy
Peptides affecting the GH/IGF-1 axis or gonadotropic axis may interact with HRT or TRT.
High-Risk Groups
- •Children and adolescents — insufficient data in developing organisms
- •Elderly with polypharmacy
- •Patients with autoimmune diseases — especially for immunomodulatory peptides
- •Patients with cardiovascular disease — particularly for peptides affecting blood pressure
Pregnancy & Fertility
Peptide use during pregnancy and breastfeeding is generally contraindicated due to insufficient safety data. Exceptions may exist only under strict medical supervision (e.g. HCG in fertility protocols).
