BPC-157 (5mg)
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) is a synthetic 15-amino acid peptide derived from a gastric protein sequence, studied for its tissue-healing and cytoprotective properties. Preclinical models show accelerated wound repair and anti-inflammatory action, although human clinical data remains limited. This educational protocol outlines a once-daily subcutaneous approach.

How It Works
BPC-157 is a synthetic peptide corresponding to a partial sequence of human gastric juice protein. Preclinical studies suggest it modulates nitric oxide pathways and growth factor expression to promote angiogenesis and collagen deposition in damaged tissues. Animal models report accelerated healing of gut, tendon, ligament, and muscle injuries. A Phase I safety trial has been completed, but large-scale efficacy data is not yet available.
Quick Start
- Reconstitution: Add 3.0 mL bacteriostatic water → 1.67 mg/mL concentration.
- Typical Daily Range: 200–600 mcg once daily (gradual titration).
- Storage: Lyophilized: freeze at −20 °C; after reconstitution, refrigerate at 2–8 °C; avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Standard / Gradual Approach (3 mL = ~1.67 mg/mL)
Route: Subcutaneous | Frequency: Once daily
| Week | Dose | Units (per injection) |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1–2 | 200 mcg (0.2 mg) | 12 Units (0.12 mL) |
| Weeks 3–4 | 400 mcg (0.4 mg) | 24 Units (0.24 mL) |
| Weeks 5–8+ | 600 mcg (0.6 mg) | 36 Units (0.36 mL) |
Studies report administration once daily subcutaneously. This schedule uses the most practical dilution (3.0 mL) to keep units per injection above 10 for better accuracy. Dosing is extrapolated from preclinical models.

Reconstitution Steps
- Withdraw 3.0 mL of bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe.
- Inject slowly down the side of the vial; avoid foaming.
- Gently swirl/rotate until dissolved (do not shake vigorously).
- Label and refrigerate at 2–8 °C, protecting from light.
Protocol Overview
- Goal: Support tissue healing and recovery processes based on preclinical evidence.
- Schedule: Daily subcutaneous injections for 8–12 weeks (extendable to 16 weeks if desired).
- Storage: Lyophilized frozen; reconstituted refrigerated; avoid freeze-thaw cycles.
Dosing Protocol
- Initiation: 200 mcg daily; increase by ~200 mcg every 2 weeks as tolerated.
- Target: 400–600 mcg daily by Weeks 5–8+.
- Frequency: Once daily (subcutaneously).
- Cycle Duration: 8–12 weeks; optional extension to 16 weeks.
- Break between cycles: After the cycle, a 2–4 week pause is recommended before repeating. BPC-157 has a short half-life—the pause helps prevent potential tolerance (tachyphylaxis).
Washout & Cycle Restart
When can I restart?
After the cycle, a 2–4 week pause is recommended before repeating. BPC-157 has a short half-life—the pause helps prevent potential tolerance (tachyphylaxis).
Minimum wait period: 2 weeks
Storage Instructions
- Lyophilized: Store at −20 °C in dry, dark conditions; minimize moisture exposure.
- Reconstituted: Refrigerate at 2–8 °C; prepare aliquots if needed and avoid freeze-thawing.
- Allow vials to reach room temperature before opening.
Important Notes
- Human data on BPC-157 is preliminary; clinical decisions should involve qualified healthcare professionals.
Potential Benefits & Side Effects
Potential Benefits:
- Supports tissue repair in gut, tendinous, muscle, and skin injury models (animal data).
- Anti-inflammatory and cytoprotective properties in preclinical settings.
- Phase I safety studies report good tolerability with no serious adverse events.
- Potential for mild injection site reactions (redness, itching) with subcutaneous administration.
- Long-term safety and efficacy in humans remain under investigation.
Potential Side Effects:
- Injection site reactions: redness, swelling, stinging (15–25%).
- Transient nausea (5–10%, primarily first week).
- Dizziness (3–7%, rare).
- Human clinical data is very limited.
⚠️ Serious Warnings & Long-Term Risks
The following warnings are based on published literature, FDA labels, and post-marketing surveillance. They do not constitute medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional.
Theoretical concern: angiogenesis & oncogenesis
BPC-157 promotes angiogenesis (VEGF upregulation). May theoretically enhance blood supply to existing tumors. No clinical data in humans.
