    How It Works

PPS inhibits metalloproteinases (MMPs), protects cartilage proteoglycans, reduces inflammation via NF-κB, and enhances hyaluronic acid synthesis.

    Quick Start

    • Typical Dose: 2–3mg/kg subcutaneously or 100mg per os
    • Frequency: 1–2x/week (injection) or 3x/day (per os)
    • Storage: Room temperature

    Reconstitution Steps

    1. PPS is typically supplied as a ready-to-use injectable solution.
    2. Clean the rubber stopper with an alcohol wipe.
    3. Draw the desired dose.
    4. Administer subcutaneously or intramuscularly.

    Protocol Overview

    • PPS is a semisynthetic heparinoid derived from beechwood bark.
    • Chondroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and antithrombotic effects.
    • Elmiron® is approved for interstitial cystitis (IC/BPS).

    Dosing Protocol

    • Injection: 2–3mg/kg, 1x/week for 4–6 weeks.
    • Per os: 100mg 3x/day (Elmiron® dose).
    • For OA: 4–6 week cycles, 2x/year.
    • Results: 2–4 weeks (injection), 3–6 months (per os).
    • Break between cycles: After an injection cycle (4–6 weeks), a washout period of 2–3 months is recommended before repeating. Typically 2 cycles/year.

    Washout & Cycle Restart

    When can I restart?

After an injection cycle (4–6 weeks), a washout period of 2–3 months is recommended before repeating. Typically 2 cycles/year.

    Minimum wait period: 8 weeks

    Storage Instructions

    • Room temperature (15–25°C).
    • Protect from light.

    Important Notes

    • May increase bleeding time.
    • Avoid concurrent use of anticoagulants.
    • Long-term per os use: rare retinal maculopathy.
