How It Works
Selank (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg-Pro-Gly-Pro) is a **stabilized analog of tuftsin** — a natural tetrapeptide (Thr-Lys-Pro-Arg) that is part of the IgG heavy chain. The added **Pro-Gly-Pro** sequence dramatically increases its stability and half-life. It acts through multiple mechanisms: **(1)** Increases **BDNF** levels in the hippocampus, enhancing neuroplasticity and memory. **(2)** Enhances **GABAergic transmission**, providing anxiolytic action without sedation (unlike benzodiazepines). **(3)** Stabilizes **enkephalin** levels by inhibiting their degrading enzymes (enkephalinases). **(4)** Modulates **serotonin and dopamine** — improving mood without causing euphoria. **(5)** Immunomodulatory effects via the tuftsin pathway — increasing the activity of phagocytes and NK cells, while regulating cytokine production.

Dosing Table — Selank 5mg
Route: Intranasal or subcutaneous | Frequency: 1–3x daily
| Week | Dose | Units (per injection) |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 | 250mcg | 10 Units (0.10 mL) |
| 3+ | 500mcg | 20 Units (0.20 mL) |
Intranasal administration is the most common route. Onset of action is within 15–30 minutes and lasts 3–6 hours.

Reconstitution Steps
- Clean the vial stoppers with an alcohol wipe.
- Draw up 2mL of bacteriostatic water.
- Inject slowly into the side wall of the vial.
- Gently swirl until fully dissolved.
- Store in the refrigerator (2–8°C).
Protocol Overview
- Selank (TP-7) is a synthetic heptapeptide — an analog of tuftsin (a natural immunomodulatory part of IgG) with an added Pro-Gly-Pro sequence for stability.
- Approved in Russia (2008) as an intranasal spray for anxiety disorders — developed at the Institute of Molecular Genetics (Moscow).
- Acts via multiple neurotransmitter systems: GABAergic, serotonergic, dopaminergic — providing anxiolytic action without sedation.
- Increases BDNF (Brain-Derived Neurotrophic Factor) levels, supporting neuroplasticity and memory.
- Non-addictive — does not cause dependence, tolerance, or withdrawal syndrome.
Dosing Protocol
- Weeks 1–2: 250mcg, 1–2x/day (intranasally or subcutaneously).
- Weeks 3+: 500mcg, 2–3x/day, depending on response.
- Cycle: 2–4 weeks on, 1–2 weeks off.
- The intranasal route provides faster onset of action (15–30 minutes).
- Often combined with Semax for cognitive enhancement (nootropic stack).
- Break between cycles: After a cycle (2–4 weeks), a break of 2–4 weeks is recommended. Selank does not cause dependence — the break prevents potential tolerance to its anxiolytic effects and allows endogenous enkephalin balance to restore.
Washout & Cycle Restart
When can I restart?
After a cycle (2–4 weeks), a break of 2–4 weeks is recommended. Selank does not cause dependence — the break prevents potential tolerance to its anxiolytic effects and allows endogenous enkephalin balance to restore.
Minimum wait period: 2 weeks
Storage Instructions
- Reconstituted: 2–8°C, use within 21 days.
- Lyophilized powder: 2–8°C or −20°C for long-term storage.
- Do not freeze after reconstitution.
Important Notes
- Non-addictive — does not cause dependence, tolerance, or withdrawal syndrome (unlike benzodiazepines).
- Does not cause sedation or drowsiness — suitable for daytime use.
- May interact with immunosuppressants due to its immunomodulatory action (tuftsin pathway).
- Intranasal action occurs within 15–30 minutes and lasts 3–6 hours.

Potential Benefits & Side Effects
Potential Benefits:
- Anxiolytic action without sedation — approved in Russia for anxiety disorders
- Cognitive function improvement — increases BDNF, enhances memory and learning
- Immunomodulatory action — activation of phagocytes, NK cells via tuftsin pathway
- Antidepressant effect — via serotonin/dopamine regulation
- Non-addictive — no withdrawal syndrome, tolerance, or dependence
- Antiviral activity — studies show activity against influenza and herpes
Potential Side Effects:
- Mild nasal dryness — primarily with intranasal administration
- Rare: mild headache, mainly at the beginning of treatment
- Rare: transient fatigue at high doses
- Generally extremely well-tolerated in clinical use in Russia
⚠️ Serious Warnings & Long-Term Risks
The following warnings are based on published literature, FDA labels, and post-marketing surveillance. They do not constitute medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional.
BDNF modulation & immunoregulation
Selank modifies BDNF, IL-6, and immune markers. Long-term effects in humans unclear — very few studies beyond 30 days.
