BPC-157 Oral (500mcg capsule)
BPC-157 (Body Protection Compound-157) in capsule form utilizes stabilized analogs for gastrointestinal protection and healing without injection. Phase II clinical studies (APTEL Therapeutics) are evaluating a stable analog (PL 14736 / PL-10) for ulcerative colitis and inflammatory bowel disease. Per os administration provides local action on the gastrointestinal mucosa.

How It Works
The mechanism of action includes: (1) activation of the NO pathway — angiogenesis and blood flow, (2) regulation of FAK-paxillin — cell migration and healing, (3) anti-inflammatory action via reduction of TNF-α/IL-6, (4) cytoprotection of the gastrointestinal mucosa. Per os administration provides local action on the gastrointestinal epithelium.
Quick Start
- Typical research dose: 250–500 mcg daily, on an empty stomach.
- Timing: 30 minutes before breakfast with a little water.
- Storage: In a cool, dark place — away from moisture.
Typical Research Dosing — Per Os
Route: Oral (per os) | Frequency: Once daily
| Week | Dose | Amount |
|---|---|---|
| Weeks 1–2 | 0.25 mg (250 mcg) | ½ capsule or 1 250mcg capsule |
| Weeks 3–8 | 0.5 mg (500 mcg) | 1 500mcg capsule |
| Weeks 9–12 (optional) | 0.5 mg (500 mcg) | 1 500mcg capsule |
Take once daily on an empty stomach, at least 30 minutes before a meal. Per os administration primarily targets the gastrointestinal mucosa. Dosing is extrapolated from preclinical models (Sikiric et al.).
Related compounds
Protocol Overview
- BPC-157 is a pentadecapeptide (15 amino acids) derived from gastric juice. The per os form utilizes digestion-resistant stabilized analogs.
- Preclinical data show potent cytoprotection in the gastrointestinal tract, accelerated ulcer healing, reduction of inflammatory markers (TNF-α, IL-6), and angiogenic activity.
- The company APTEL Therapeutics developed a stable analog (PL 14736) that withstands gastric pH and maintains bioactivity per os.
Dosing Protocol
- Take 1 capsule (500 mcg) daily on an empty stomach, 30 minutes before breakfast.
- Do not break or chew the capsule — swallow it whole.
- For gastrointestinal focus, the cycle typically lasts 8–12 weeks.
- Avoid simultaneous use of antacids or proton pump inhibitors without medical advice.
- Break between cycles: A 4-week break between cycles is recommended to assess response.
Washout & Cycle Restart
When can I restart?
A 4-week break between cycles is recommended to assess response.
Minimum wait period: 4 weeks
Storage Instructions
- Store in a cool, dry place (15–25 °C).
- Away from direct sunlight and moisture.
- Keep the container sealed between uses.
Important Notes
- ⚠️ Human clinical data remain limited — the majority of findings come from animal models.
- The per os bioavailability of natural BPC-157 is low; stabilized analogs (e.g., PL 14736) significantly improve absorption.
- Does not substitute medical advice or treatment.
Potential Benefits & Side Effects
Potential Benefits:
- Gastrointestinal cytoprotection
- Accelerated healing of gastric ulcers (preclinical)
- Reduction of inflammatory markers in the gut
- Support of the intestinal barrier (gut barrier)
- No injection — easy daily administration
Potential Side Effects:
- Mild gastrointestinal discomfort (rare)
- Nausea at high doses
- Human safety data remain limited
⚠️ Serious Warnings & Long-Term Risks
The following warnings are based on published literature, FDA labels, and post-marketing surveillance. They do not constitute medical advice. Consult a healthcare professional.
Theoretical concern: angiogenesis & oncogenesis
BPC-157 promotes angiogenesis (VEGF upregulation). May theoretically enhance blood supply to existing tumors. No clinical data in humans.
