    Anti-Aging Peptides: Epithalon, GHK-Cu, NAD+ & Literature Review 2026

    AllPeptides.eu Editorial Team May 8, 2026 Mis à jour: July 16, 2026 14 min de lecture

    Résumé

Anti-aging research spans several peptide categories: epigenetic regulators (Epithalon), copper peptides (GHK-Cu), mitochondrial peptides (MOTS-C, SS-31) and precursors/coenzymes (NAD+). Each category targets different mechanisms of aging and carries a different level of evidence — from well-documented at the preclinical level to early investigational.

What do we mean by "anti-aging peptides"?

In the literature, "anti-aging peptides" is a broad term covering molecules studied for their effect on biological mechanisms of aging: telomerase activity, oxidative stress, inflammation, mitochondrial function, cellular senescence and epigenetic regulation. None has been approved as an anti-aging drug.

Epithalon — telomeres and epigenetic regulation

Epithalon (Ala-Glu-Asp-Gly) is a tetrapeptide developed by Khavinson at the St. Petersburg Institute of Bioregulation. It is researched for potential involvement in telomerase, circadian rhythm and oxidative stress in experimental contexts. The data remain literature-level and do not constitute anti-aging guidance.

GHK-Cu — copper peptide and skin regeneration

GHK-Cu (copper tripeptide-1) is among the most studied molecules in skin and extracellular matrix research. In the literature it is associated with collagen remodeling, anti-inflammatory signalling and tissue-model endpoints. Research by the Pickart group indicates that GHK-Cu affects the expression of more than 4,000 genes. For educational context, see also GHK-Cu Skin Research.

NAD+ and precursors — mitochondrial metabolism

NAD+ (nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide) is not a peptide but a coenzyme studied as a longevity research target. The precursors NMN and NR are researched for sirtuins, DNA repair and mitochondrial health. Human clinical studies show increases in NAD+ levels, but the functional anti-aging benefits remain under investigation.

    MOTS-C and SS-31 — mitochondrial peptides

MOTS-C and SS-31 are mitochondria-derived peptides (MDPs) secreted by mitochondria in response to metabolic stress. MOTS-C regulates metabolism, insulin sensitivity and muscle homeostasis. SS-31 focuses on stabilising the inner mitochondrial membrane. Both show an interesting preclinical picture in aging. For protocols, see MOTS-C and SS-31.

    Foxo4-DRI — senolytic action

Foxo4-DRI is a d-retro-inverso peptide researched for senolytic action — the ability to induce apoptosis in senescent cells. Studies in aged mice show improved physical condition and reduced markers of aging. It remains one of the earliest-stage investigational molecules in longevity research. See Foxo4-DRI for the educational protocol.

    Foire aux questions (FAQ)

Is there an approved anti-aging peptide?

No. None of the anti-aging peptides under study has been approved by the FDA or the EMA as an anti-aging treatment. Aging as a therapeutic indication is not yet recognised by regulators.

Which anti-aging peptide has the most evidence?

GHK-Cu has some of the most extensive literature data at the level of molecular mechanisms. Epithalon has some human studies but insufficient clinical evidence for strong conclusions.

What do we know about the safety profile?

The available safety data come mainly from preclinical studies. The absence of controlled human clinical trials means the full safety profile is not known.

    Is this guide medical advice?

No. It is an educational overview of the anti-aging peptide literature for research purposes.
